New Feature on Android Tablets: Open Apps in Windows Like on a PC!.
Google is currently testing a new feature for Android tablets that will allow users to open apps in resizable windows, much like on a PC.

This feature will enable you to drag and adjust the size of apps, and in some cases, even open multiple instances of the same app.

Right now, most apps on Android tablets open in full-screen mode. However, with this new feature, apps can be opened in a window, with familiar buttons in the top-right corner, just like on a desktop computer.

You’ll be able to maximize or close the app from there. There’s also a new taskbar at the bottom of the screen, making it easier to switch between different apps.

To activate this feature, you simply need to hold your finger at the top of the app window.

If you’re using a keyboard with your tablet, you can use the shortcut Windows/Command/Search + Ctrl + down arrow to switch to windowed mode.

To exit window mode, either close all open apps or drag the window to the top of the screen.

For now, this exciting new feature is only available on the latest developer version of Android 15, and only on Pixel tablets.

There’s no word yet on when it will roll out to other devices or when it will be fully released.
