The highly anticipated iPhone 16 smartphones are set to hit the market on September 20. However, tech experts at Tom’s Guide have already gotten their hands on the iPhone 16 series, and they’ve shared some interesting findings, especially regarding battery life.
Impressive Battery Life in 5G Surfing
In a 5G browsing test at 150 nits brightness, both the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max showed significant improvements in battery life compared to their predecessors, the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.
The iPhone 16 Pro lasted three hours longer, while the Pro Max added an impressive four hours.
Surprisingly, the iPhone 16 Pro, despite being smaller, outlasted the larger Google Pixel 9 Pro XL in battery life tests.
Meanwhile, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra landed between the Pro and Pro Max in terms of battery performance.
As for the 60Hz standard iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus, both models gained over two extra hours of battery life.
The iPhone 16 now lasts 13 hours and 19 minutes, compared to the iPhone 15's 11 hours and 5 minutes.
The iPhone 16 Plus clocks in at 16 hours and 29 minutes, up from the previous model's 14 hours and 14 minutes. This boost is likely thanks to the new A18 chips powering the devices.
Fast Charging Performance
When it comes to charging, both the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max perform similarly to their predecessors.
After 15 minutes of charging, they reached 29% battery. In 30 minutes, the iPhone 16 Pro hit 56%, while the Pro Max charged to 55%.
Although these speeds are similar to the iPhone 15 Pro models, they’re still solid results.
The Galaxy S24 Ultra had slightly better charging times, but Apple’s devices managed to outshine the Pixel 9 Pro in this area.
