iPhone 16 Sales Fall Short of Apple’s Expectations. |
Renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has reported that the demand for the iPhone 16 lineup was lower than Apple had anticipated.
His analysis is based on supply chain data and delivery timelines shared on the company’s website.
During the first weekend, around 37 million smartphones from the new iPhone 16 series, which includes four models, were sold.
This is a 13% drop compared to the sales of the iPhone 15 series launched last year.
The main reason for the overall sales decline lies in the iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max models, which saw a 27% decrease compared to their predecessors.
Although the standard iPhone 16 and the iPhone 16 Plus performed better than last year's versions, their success wasn’t enough to offset the reduced interest in the Pro models.
According to Kuo, one factor contributing to this dip in demand is that the iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max will not initially support Apple Intelligence AI features.
These will only become available in October with the iOS 18.1 update and will initially be limited to the U.S. market.
