Google has just announced that the final version of Android 15 has been released to the Android Open Source Project (AOSP).

This means developers and manufacturers can now access the code to start adapting their apps and devices to the new operating system.

Excitingly, Pixel phones will be among the first to receive this update, with the rollout expected to begin "in the coming weeks"—likely sometime in October.

For other brands, including Samsung, the update will start rolling out in the "coming months."

So, what new features can we expect from Android 15? Here are some of the highlights Google has shared:

1. Private Spaces for Apps: This feature will allow apps to have their own private spaces, enhancing security and privacy for users.

2. Improved Multitasking on Large Screens: Android 15 will make multitasking on bigger screens even better, perfect for tablets and foldable phones.

3. Better Battery Health Information: You'll now get more detailed information about your phone’s battery health, helping you manage battery life more effectively.

4. Enhanced Camera Brightness in Low Light: Your camera will perform better in low-light conditions, thanks to improved brightness settings.

Google has also introduced some cool new features across the Android ecosystem:

- TalkBack with Gemini AI: The TalkBack screen reader now includes the Gemini neural network, which can provide more detailed descriptions of images.

Whether it's a photo in a chat, a product on a shopping site, or a picture in your gallery, TalkBack will be more informative.

- "Outline and Find" Music Recognition: The advanced "Outline and Find" feature now has a button for music recognition.

You can identify a song playing on your phone or any nearby device.

- Text-to-Speech in Chrome: Chrome for Android now has a text-to-speech feature available to everyone.

You can find it in the three-dot menu at the top right of the browser, where you can also select the voice and even use podcast mode to adjust playback speed.

- Earthquake Alerts: Android 15 will also notify users about earthquakes, though this feature is currently limited to the U.S.

These new features will be available on most modern Android phones and tablets soon, so keep an eye out for updates on your devices.
